ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Lisbeth Kronfeld has always interested her Self in community, social & philosophical matters & where possible has brought different situations to the notice of those whom she believed could lift the burden of those less fortunate than others. Most of her inspirational writings have been in the nature of human interest promoting Self belief, positivity & Self improvement. Born in Hobart, Tasmania in 1932 Lisbeth was expressing her feelings in verse from an exceptionally young age & can remember she was never without pen & paper close by. Her first poem was published at the age of 14 years.* With a piano in her home but parents who could not afford to have her taught music, Lisbeth was singing with her brothers on Radio 7HT from the age of 5 years. Never a day would go by without her playing the piano ‘by ear’ & composing piano pieces which she remembers still. She has composed words & music to many songs & instrumental pieces & is still composing & writing. ‘Highway of Crosses’ is just one of the many ways Lisbeth has expressed her philosophy & community concerns in verse through these true life & death stories in the hope it will bring more meaning to every driver whenever they see a black cross on the side of the highways, a yellow ribbon tied around a tree or a floral tribute resting at the base of a tree.
